Interior Design of a 4-Story Residential Apartment - Qaemshahr

The interior design of this four-story residential apartment in Qaemshahr stands as a deep case study in managing architectural duality and client contradiction within a singular structure. The primary challenge was rooted not just in aesthetics, but in ensuring the cohabitation of two distinctly separate identities within the strict spatial constraint of 155 square meters per unit—a space that had to fulfill both precise functional requirements and divergent psychological demands.

To address these limitations, the core strategy of Omid Hosseinian Engineering Group was based on two principles: visual expansion of space and maximizing the efficiency of every square centimeter. This began with the meticulous implementation of an Open Plan layout in the public areas to ensure spatial flow and visual continuity. To reinforce this goal, every dead or inefficient space was converted into a visual asset; maximum storage capacity was achieved through floor-to-ceiling, integrated joinery and continuous custom cabinets, which simultaneously preserved the walls" integrity and optically enhanced the space"s height.

In the Brother’s Minimalist Unit, the final goal was absolute stillness and tranquility, a quality achievable only through Extreme Minimalism. The color palette was strictly neutral and defined by a monochromatic spectrum, rigorously avoiding visual noise and establishing the architectural stillness characteristic of the movement. To counteract the risk of sterility, spatial differentiation and sensory interest were achieved not through color, but through light and material texture contrast; the juxtaposition of exposed plaster and suspended ceilings with semi-matte ceramics created subtle haptic layers that define and animate the monochrome space.

This pure aesthetic is complemented by a comprehensive Smart System controlling lighting and hardware. The illumination scheme, utilizing recessed linear and concealed halogen lights, is managed by this smart system—an example of invisible technology—allowing for precise adjustment of light scenarios tailored to the resident’s needs and ensuring maximum functional adaptability while preserving the simplicity of the form.

For the Sister"s Units, two distinct worldviews were offered as proposals. Proposal One was anchored in a Biophilic approach, seeking to create a natural sanctuary where the resident is enveloped in a comforting sensory package delivered through wood tones, abundant greenery, and warm light temperatures closely simulating natural sunlight.

Proposal Two, while retaining the core minimalist framework, leaned toward a Modern Monochromatic Luxe aesthetic. Defined by a high-contrast palette of white, black, and gray, the design aimed to project an image of refined austerity. To reinforce this sophisticated quality, glossy textures were prioritized: the use of highly polished metals in hardware, joinery detailing, and high-sheen paint finishes created stylish visual punctuation and enhanced light reflection. This strategic use of reflectivity ensured that despite the formal simplicity, the visual vibrancy of the space was maximized, successfully elevating the minimalist form into the realm of contemporary luxury.

Due to the limited exterior vista imposed by the semi-dense urban context, the vital biophilic link was strategically transferred from the interior windows to the project’s highest level: the communal Rooftop Garden. This space, free from obstructing views, acts as a therapeutic extension and the primary hub for connecting with the surrounding landscape, compensating for the lack of internal panoramic views.
