Helico Factory Dining Hall

The subject of this project is the interior design of the VIP dining hall of the Helico factory; a space that, considering our continuous and long-term collaboration with this company, was regarded as a valuable opportunity to enhance its spatial quality and organizational identity. Accordingly, the design approach sought to move beyond the concept of a conventional dining hall and to identify all functional and spatial potentials of such an environment, presenting them within an integrated design framework.

From the design team’s perspective, a hall with this organizational status can serve not only as a dedicated dining space for managers and special guests, but also as a multifunctional venue—one capable of hosting formal meetings, corporate gatherings, internal events, and ceremonial receptions.

Based on this vision, the design approach was formed around the principle of “functional flexibility.” The spatial organization, furniture layout, lighting design, and material selection were conceived in a way that allows for three distinct layout configurations. These configurations, presented below, are each defined according to different functional scenarios.

In the interior design of this project, an effort was made to strike a balance between the warmth of a dining environment and the industrial–corporate identity of Helico. The space is designed to simultaneously convey intimacy, formality, and the professional character of the factory.

Materials and the Formation of Spatial Atmosphere

In material selection, a combination of natural wood with materials such as plaster, gypsum board (drywall), and ceramic or stone surfaces was adopted. Wood, as the dominant element in parts of the walls and furniture, plays the primary role in creating a sense of warmth, invitation, and intimacy—qualities essential for a VIP dining hall.

In contrast, the use of neutral-toned materials in the flooring, ceiling, and portions of the walls provides a calm and balanced backdrop, allowing the wood to stand out as the focal material. This controlled contrast between the warm texture of wood and neutral, minimal surfaces results in a space that is dignified, contemporary, and yet dynamic.

Wall lighting was also designed to reinforce this material contrast. By emphasizing the texture of the wood and creating soft light and shadow effects, the visual depth of the space is enhanced, contributing to a richer perceptual experience.

Manifestation of Industrial Identity and a Global Outlook

One of the key elements of the design is the placement of a world map as a graphic–conceptual feature. This element reflects the factory’s global perspective and international interactions, symbolizing its development horizons and transnational approach.

The presence of this feature within the interior design is not merely decorative; rather, it functions as a symbol of industrial thinking, communication networks, and the scope of the factory’s activities. In this way, the interior space becomes not only functional but also a narrative expression of the organization’s identity and international standing.

Identity and Achievement Display Walls

In other parts of the hall, the walls have been purposefully designed to accommodate the installation of frames, images, and documentation of the factory’s completed projects. This approach transforms the space into a corporate gallery—an environment where guests and managers can become acquainted with the company’s achievements and capabilities while present in the hall.
This functional layering of the walls not only creates visual diversity but also strengthens the sense of organizational identity and belonging.

The End Wall as a Multifunctional Focal Point

At the end of the hall, a prominent wall has been designed as the focal point of the space. The placement of the factory’s logo in the upper section of this wall reinforces the visual identity of the organization and lends formality to the environment.

Additionally, the provision of a platform and infrastructure for image and video projection enables the hall to function in multiple scenarios. This area can be used for formal presentations, project introductions, meetings, internal ceremonies, or corporate events. Thus, the end wall is not merely decorative but serves as an effective functional infrastructure that enhances the space’s overall performance.

This project represents an attempt to redefine a hall as a dynamic, multilayered, and adaptable environment—one shaped not by a fixed function but by evolving scenarios of collective experience. The design is grounded in the idea of “meaningful adaptability,” where the space reorganizes itself according to the type of use, scale of gathering, and quality of human interaction, without compromising its spatial identity.

First Layout Proposal

In the first configuration, the hall is defined as a collective dining space. A 24-seat table is positioned at the heart of the space, transforming the act of dining into a social and almost ceremonial experience. The waiting area at the entrance acts as a soft threshold, providing a moment of pause and preparation before entering the collective setting, gradually guiding users into the main space.

Second Layout Proposal

In this arrangement, through a change in layout and usage logic, the hall becomes a venue for conferences, meetings, and workshops. The waiting furniture is replaced with seating arrangements that support concentration, dialogue, and exchange of ideas. The space shifts from a ceremonial atmosphere to a more formal and interactive one, while maintaining its spatial coherence.

Third Layout Proposal

In this configuration, the hall transforms into a flexible educational environment—a setting for classes and learning activities. In this mode, the space emphasizes clarity, focus, and diverse organizational possibilities more than ever, providing an appropriate platform for the transfer of knowledge and experience.

Overall, the interior design of this hall is based on three principles: “spatial warmth,” “expression of industrial identity,” and “functional flexibility.” This approach seeks to create a space worthy of the managerial and international status of the organization, while simultaneously responding to its diverse and evolving needs.
